PGPpro Application Deadlines:
R3 Application Deadline for Delhi and Hyderabad: May 30, 2021
Essay 1: One of the key intrinsic element at the Indian School of Business is “to develop principled, future leaders who improve lives around the world…” Please discuss how you will contribute towards this mission based on examples of your past work and activities? (400 words max)
“principled, future leaders who improve lives around the world” - sounds intimidating doesn’t it? Most of us would feel overwhelmed; after all, chances are that we have not really done anything significant to improve lives even in our immediate vicinity, let alone around the world.
The truth however is that leadership is often a grossly misunderstood term; leadership is not just about herding a (say) 200-person team to achieve an organizational goal; the fact that you have not headed a 200-person team, does not make you any less a leader.
The various individual contributions that you would’ve made, the many minor initiatives that you would have taken in your academic & professional life, the software you would have developed at work, the exceptional customer service that you would have rendered as part of your job requirements, the commendation that you might have received from your boss/customers, all of them ultimately contributed to making someone’s life better/easier. Hence, they all qualify to be a part of this essay.
So, you need to do good introspection, and come up with around 2-3 events/instances where your work contributed to your organization in some way. A gripping narration and impactful articulation of those events/instances will prove that you have the potential to make a positive impact to your work surroundings. This is exactly what the essay is looking for.
Essay 2: Why should the Admissions Committee offer you over other qualified candidates? (250 words max)
What a blank check ISB has given to aspirants! You have a massive 250 words to convince the admissions committee that you are unique. The essay requires that you highlight those aspects of your profile that bring out your uniqueness. The uniqueness of your undergrad degree, your discipline, your leadership experiences, your work experiences, your extracurricular activities, and your hobbies; any of these can set you apart from other qualified applicants.
